Mission of Love at Shady Knoll Nursing Home

February is American Heart Month. It is also a month which celebrates loving Valentine hearts. With this in mind, Shady Knoll Health Center has a hearty month of activities planned for residents, families, and employees alike!
To start, beginning February 1st, any visitor, resident, or staff member is encouraged to place an inexpensive Valentine’s gift order for any resident or employee with a minimal purchase for a red carnation or a mylar balloon for $2 each, and Valentines cards for $1. Or they can order all three! Orders will be accepted in the lobby from Feb 1st until Feb 13th. Recreational staff will pick the orders up and hand deliver to all recipients on Lover’s Day, Feb 14th.
Additionally, Deborah Torrey, Administrator, will make her annual rounds providing hot chocolate and cookies to employees throughout the various shifts. Torrey has been offering this sweet tradition for the past 12 years!
Finally, in recognition of American Heart Month, every Wednesday for the month of February, employees will be allowed to “dress down” and wear anything red provided they donate $1 to benefit the American Heart Association. Dress down might include items such as a red blouse, red shoes, red earrings, or even a red cap. All easily and RED-ily worn!
