June 24, 2021

Dear Family Members,

Hope this letter finds you safe and well. The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health recently updated the visitation guidelines for nursing homes. Please review the following updates for resident visitations:

  • The facility front door should be unlocked during normal business hours, 8 AM to 8 PM Monday thru Friday, 9 AM to 8 PM on Saturday and Sunday
  • Visits no longer need to be preschedule visits through the Recreation Department
  • Visitors must be screened and complete the Visitor Responsibility Guide upon entry to the facility
  • Visitors do not need to be escorted to the resident’s room
  • Visits do not need to be supervised
  • There is no longer a time frame for length of visit
  • There may be up to 2 visitors at a time in the resident’s room.
  • Visits in room can occur regardless of vaccine status for resident or family
  • If a resident has a roommate who is unable to leave the room, the visit can still occur in the room following the core principles of infection prevention: hand hygiene, wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing from the roommate and keeping privacy curtain closed
  • Residents and visitors who are fully vaccinated may visit without distancing and source control masks if alone in the resident’s room or alone in a designated
  • Visits can occur in common areas
  • Residents on Transmission Based Precautions may have virtual or window visits or receive compassionate care visits with visitor wearing appropriate PPE

Hopefully, these new guidelines will allow for a more “normal” visit. If  you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at your convenience.
